Haven’t had a lot of time to myself this month so things have been really quiet bandside.
Finalized writing basslines for the EP’s third song (still two more to go), rehearsed with the boys for the upcoming gigs (and I think we actually came up with the coolest setlist we’ve ever had) and that’s it. Gotta get back to working on that new EP… it’s about time.

Lots of good stuff this month with some of my favorite bands releasing new records.
Slightly disappointed with the new Anthrax, “For All Kings”. Not that it sucks or anything, I think it’s actually pretty good indeed, but the previous one was so goddamn brilliant (which I totally didn’t expect with Belladonna’s return — always been more of a Bush guy myself) that I was probably expecting too much out of this one. Nevertheless, some great tunes there, just slightly less catchy stuff on its whole.
Also had a bit of struggle with “Gore” from the Deftones. Probably my favorite band (ever) but this latest offering gave me a hard time. First, I didn’t like the production (and still don’t) but moreover, aside from obvious “Prayers/Triangles”, “Hearts/Wires” and “Phantom Bride” (Deftones + Jerry Cantrell, dreams come true guys), I just couldn’t wrap my head around these songs. After 128 657 listens, I can say I like that record a lot. It’s slightly less catchy and flamboyant than some of their previous works but it’s (once again) one hell of a ride once you got into it.
Nada Surf play Nada Surf. Not many surprises on “You Know Who You Are” but still that same incredibly beautiful bittersweet power-pop that moves me like few do. Oh yeah, you guys are my Beatles.
And finally, got my hands on “Vitalogy”‘s five star remastered reissue. Not much more to say about this one aside than it’s one of my favorite Pearl Jam records and that this new reissue’s packaging and sound are simply astonishing. Good job Sony Music motherfuckers.
Thanks for checking out my monthly blabber.
‘Til next month fellas!
